Our Volunteers

Our volunteers make the difference

Led by Marian Milne (Healthpost Nature Trust Project Coordinator), our volunteers are the cornerstone of our work, and play such an important role in our conservation efforts. They bring their skills from all walks of life with a shared commitment to help us reach our vision.

They work tirelessly rain and shine to help us achieve our vision. In the year ended March 2022, for example, they have together given almost 2000 hours in time to our activities.

It’s a conservation ethic – trying to leave the world in a better place than your found it...we all have quite a deep commitment to improving where we can, and that’s really important to us.
— Alec Milne, Farmer

The opportunity to be involved in the translocation of the fluttering shearwaters is one of the best life experiences I’ve had, and with such a great bunch of people.
— Esther Remnant, Trainee Ranger

It’s something I enjoy basically. And I like getting involved in the community projects...you get to work with DOC and meet some quite interesting people.
— Nigel Birse, Plant provider
